Haven at Blue Creek offers a comprehensive approach to addiction recovery through a variety of therapeutic modalities designed to heal the mind, body, and spirit. Participants engage in group work to build community and mutual support, individual therapy for personalized healing, and complementary therapies like yoga, dance, art, and equine therapy to enhance emotional regulation, self-expression, and physical well-being. Grounded in a 12-step spiritual philosophy, Haven supports diverse faith practices and provides opportunities for spiritual growth. These therapies work together to foster resilience, self-awareness, and long-term recovery.
Group Work
Developing a sense of community is integral to the healing process. Small group sessions at Haven at Blue Creek allow participants to learn to support others as well as to receive support, open them up to the perspectives of others, and understand addiction as a shared experience. Many people build bonds in group sessions that extend well beyond their stay and are central to their ongoing recovery.
Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction encourages residents to explore their beliefs, values, and the role of spirituality in their healing. This process is not tied to any specific religion but is tailored to each individual’s needs and understanding, promoting inclusivity and respect. By cultivating a sense of connection, whether to a higher power, nature, or the community, spiritual direction helps foster inner peace, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose—essential elements for long-term recovery. It empowers residents to find strength in their faith or spirituality.
One-on-One Therapy
This one-on-one approach allows therapy to be highly personalized, focusing on each resident's unique challenges, goals, and strengths. Therapists employ evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help individuals identify and reframe negative thought patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and develop emotional resilience.
Art
Through artistic expression, participants at Haven at Blue Creek can understand and respond to their experiences in new ways. This can help increase self-awareness and enhance coping skills. Art Therapy has been found to be beneficial in improving self-esteem and self-expression, as well as managing addiction. Used as a complement to a 12-step recovery program, studies have shown that art and music therapy improve outcomes – particularly for women. At Haven at Blue Creek, we seek to help clients find their voice, whatever form that may take.
Equine Therapy
Equine Therapy enhances healing by utilizing the connection between people and horses. This experiential treatment has been found to help participants build self-confidence and regulate their emotions as they work through trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction.
Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy encourages the integration of mind, body, and spirit and has been found effective in treating substance use disorders in addition to its positive impacts on physical health (Kuppili et al., 2018). Because of its many well-established benefits, Haven at Blue Creek employs yoga as a companion therapy; mindfulness and meditation work hand-in-hand with our recovery philosophy.
